Tilt & Turn Gearing – The Decision
Yesterday we asked you guys is you had any preference on tilt & turn gearing..
The unanimous answer was “Yes, the old one!”.
“The old one” for us is the FUHR Tipsafe Tilt Before Turn Hardware.
.. and we’re inclined to agree.
The FUHR products are great quality throughout and you guys seem to agree.
So, that’s it settled, we’re back onto the FUHR Tipsafe!

This high quality tilt before turn gearing from FUHR, is designed for simple stockholding and it is engineered for straightforward assembly. Standard components are fully reversible (except the euro hinges), further reducing stockholding requirements.
- Top stays are easily reversed by hand
- Centralised drive gears are precise and easily shortened
- Fixed height drive gear is available for small height windows
- Two section top stays permit separate sash and frame assembly
- Top hinge is surface mounted
- Bottom Eurogroove hinge is available
The FUHR Tipsafe hardware is produced with a silver plated finish, improving the appearance and increasing corrosion resistance of the gearing.
Standard components are supplied for the Tipsafe gearing, all specified as per the dimensions of the sash rebate of the window. Additional options are available on request including:
- Additional locking points
