Buy Eco Friendly.. Buy M&S Windows.

With the news of Deceuninck’s new €3m recycling plant in Belgium opening this week, M&S is now one step closer to reducing the carbon footprint of not only our own company, but the Double Glazing industry as a whole.

Here at M&S we take the environment very seriously. Whether it’s A-Rated windows and doors, reducing our consumers carbon footprints, our own waste and recycling programme’s in our manufacturing facilities or even our waste paper recycling boxes in our offices, we’re doing everything for this crazy little circle we call ‘earth’.

Deceuninck’s new recycling plant in Diksmuide, Belgium is the result of a €3 million investment that includes recycling equipment to handle both industrial and consumer PVC. With a 20,000 tonne capacity, the plant is the largest of its kind for rigid PVC recycling in the Benelux. It’s planned to be fully using the 20,000 tonne capacity by 2016.

Material is gathered from all around – old dismantled windows are returned to Deceuninck for recycling and we cooperate with public and private waste management companies, builders, window fabricators and installers for collection and transport.

Here at our manufacturing facility in sunny Newton Abbot, we are always taking more steps towards reducing our carbon footprint too.
Our off-cut’s of profile go back into our rack to be reused unless they are too small or cut at such an angle that renders them useless. Anything that in unusable is collated and stored until such time as they are collected by our recycling company, transported to a recycling plant and recycled into a whole host of other products.

Our ‘swarf’, (it’s like saw-dust, but plastic) which we create a lot of , is recycled too. We have machinery in place that collects all of the swarf on a vacuum system, like a giant vacuum cleaner, collates it in large bags of which when they are full, they are removed and replaced and ultimately, collected and recycled.  Our waste paper bins in our offices work on a very similar system, as does the cardboard that comes out of our factory.

Buying from M&S Windows allows you to be confident that you are in-tern being kinder to the environment and reducing your own carbon footprint.

After all, we’ve only got one planet and one chance on it, if we all did even 1% more to look after it we might stand a chance of a future!
